Ship is a 1977 built, geared, 5 hold, bulk carrier apparently owned by Cosco, flagged Panama.

All sorts of questions on this one. Conflicting dates/location. Was she really under tow? How can 2/3rd's of crew be killed in a cargo hold fire? With this combination of flag and "class" unlikely we will get any answers.

What we do know was that Lloyds Register suspended her class 2006-06-08, whereupon she switched to Intermaritime Certification Services, S.A. This makes her at least the third major casualty in 2009 on a ship using a third (or 4th) tier classification society. See also Chang Ying (22 killed) and Black Rose (1 killed).
