INCIDENT BRIEF Received a call from the OSG Ship Manager stating the OVERSEAS TEXAS CITY had an accidental discharge of their CO2 system in the engine room while off the coast of NC. The discharge resulted in the shutting down of ship's propulsion and generators. Space was cleared and engines were restarted. Vsl entered Norfolk shipyard to effect repairs on fire suppression system. 113 bottles replaced with a full system test conducted satisfactory, vessel returned to service.

Brand new ship. Engine Room must have been unmanned or they would have killed somebody. No evidence USCG tried to find out why the CO2 system went off.
