Upon completion of bunkering operations
at San Lorenzo Norther Anchorage (Argentina),
the 1988 built 39,749 dwt chem and oil carrier Hulder
commenced manoeuvres to turn down river on the 4th of September.
During these manoeuvres a loud bang was heard on the stern.
Subsequent manoeuvres with the helm were unsuccessful
and as a result the vessel dropped anchor.
An underwater survey of the rudder was carried out
and it emerged that the rudder blade was missing
due to breakage of the rudder stock.
According to reports on the 4th of October,
the vessel remained anchored at San Lorenzo Roads
whilst the owners continue to decide
on a course of action.
