INCIDENT BRIEF RCVD phone call from agent Blair Ault 832-654-8218 for the M/T SILVER WIND 8517059 regarding a crack in the vessels shaft. The vessel is currently moored at Vopak Deer Park. Agent of vsl stated tech's were investigating the vessel this morning and discovered the crack in shaft. The agent stated the owner of the vessel believes repairs will be necessary at a different location other than Vopak Deer Park. Vessel has a history of problems w/ its CPP. A small anomaly ( approx 1 inch) was sighted on the shaft on 11 Aug that was thought to be superficial and was going to be repaired in Houston. When the vessel reached Houston, the anomaly had become a 22 inch fracture on the shaft.

A USCG guy with a sense of humor. I think we can call this anomaly a major loss of power.

This is a CRP prop, had big loss of hyd fluid, 2007-12-06, Welland Canal.
