Coastguard tug Anglian Sovereign sent to standby disabled ship - Update
The Coastguard Tug Anglian Sovereign is now escorting a tanker Sten Odin
who has now fixed their mechanical problem.
They had broken down 14 miles west of Tiree.
The Norwegian registered vessel, which has sixteen crew on board
was drifting in a north easterly direction at a rate of 1.7 knots.
It is in ballast on passage to Kalundborg in Denmark.
The weather in the area at the moment is South Westerly Force 5,
good visibility with a moderate to rough sea.
Stornoway Coastguard are continuing to monitor the vessel
using their AIS (Automatic Identification System).
Murdo Macaulay, Watch Manager, Stornoway Coastguard said:
"The vessel has now effected repairs and is continuing its passage to Denmark.
The Coastguard Tug Anglian Sovereign will escort the tanker
as they go through the Minch channel."
