9,400gt. 113mt. M/T Ventspils, departing Magadan port after discharging 6,000 tons of fuel oil and 22 crew, ran aground off northern coast of Zavyalova island, Magadan, Okhotsk sea, Lat 59.07.96N Long 150.41.25E. Water ingress in engine room via log shaft (clinket torn away). No oil spill, no injures. Salvage vessel M/V Tsuvorovets standing by -- 04.29 a.m. icebreaker M/V Captain Khlebnikov, arrived at the scene. Divers began hull inspection, half of crew evacuated.

Close inspection confirmed hull breach under the engine room. The breach was mended with a temporary patch, after which 2 electric pumps started removing the water. Full repair of the breach is expected after all water in the engine room is pumped out. Vessel, still carrying its own supply of fuel, will be towed to Vladivostok. tanker meanwhile left without electricity pumps powered from rescue vessel M/V Suvorovets.
