Crude oil tanker Minerva Eleonora ran aground
on a sandbank off Zeebrugge yesterday morning, Jan 24.
The vessel had a cargo of 103,000 tons of crude oil on board
and was bound for Antwerp.
Several tugs pulled the tanker clear of the bank just after midday,
after which the ship was granted permission
to sail for Flushing Roads with the tug Banckert, escorting.
The cause of this accident is yet unknown.
Later Minerva Eleonora sailed for Antwerp where currently discharging cargo.
