Two crew have died following a fire onboard the 1997-built Finaval
chemcical tanker Isola Azzurra in teh Mediterranean.
Ship manager Tekne Sam said the blaze broke out in the early
hours of Saturday as the 13,800-dwt vessel was sailing
from Cagliara to Leghorn.
The fire int he forecastle was extinguished by the crew,
but two Indians were killed.
They were named as bosun Maria Thoma Antony Edison, 36,
and ordinary seaman Umesh Uthaman, 26.
No further injuries were reported and no pollution
the company said.
