While underway the tanker vessel experienced a total loss of propulsion, due to a loss of power. The Chief Engineer inspected the diesel generator and found that the over speed trip was in the operating position. According to the Chief Engineer this would be the likely cause of having a worn out snap switch gear on the diesel engine and that would cause a loss of power, and thus have no power to the vessels' engines. The crew was able to restore power and make it to their destination. Their were no injuries and no other damage.

Date 2003-11-22, reported by MSO Miami. No location given. Hve no idea what a snap switch gear is. Sounds like the C/E fed the USCG a story.
