On 06 Nov 2003 at 1845 hrs the 228.5 M, 38472 GT tank ship DROMEAS
was approaching Southwest Pass Lower Mississippi River
(LMR) when it suffered a power failure.
The main engine failed to start when ordered by the pilot.
The tubing for the control air signal
to the Starting Air Stop Slide Valve was fouled with water.
This was caused by a dirty control air filter.
The vessel anchored safely at Southwest Pass Anchorage.
No secondary casualties were reported.
The tubing and filter were cleaned
and the system tested in the presence of a class surveyor.
The class report is attached as evidence.
