On 20 Jul 2003 at 1915 hrs, the 665 ft., 21937 GT tankship CHILBAR lost electrical power. The #2 SSTG failed while paralled with #1 SSTG. This caused an overloaded condition on #1 SSTG and the main circuit breaker opened resulting in a blackout of the electrical plant. The apparent cause of the incident was a faulty slip ring wire on the rotating field rectifier of #2 SSTG. The wire was replaced and the generator was placed back in service with satisfactory results. No injuries or pollution was reported.

Miss River MM 126, Motiva. Not clear whether ship was at terminal or not. One generator is supposed to be all you need. But under Class rules, it is not. Class was ABS.
