There was a fire on board the M/T PACIFIC SAPPHIRE, due to the lightering hose parting from the manifold. There was damage to the following; paint on the #2, #3, #4 compartments was burnt. The cargo line reducer, bunker line reducer, and the vapor line reducer was burnt. There was no damage and no sign of fire in the ballast tanks. The crew worked to get the fire out in a minimal amount of time to prevent damage to the vessel. The master claims the cause of this fire was due to the rolling effect of the vessel caused by the sea.
