The BSU report is a good one.
It is far too lengthy to summarize here.
Basically, this was a confused situation
as the southbound convoy was forming up at night
under Port Said Traffic Control.
The traffic control first ordered Sarah Glory
to speed up to get into the fairway,
and then to stop short of the fairway,
which they were unable to do
given nil low speed maneuverability.
The Sarah Glory turned away intending to
circle around for another pass,
but in so doing she came into contact with
the big container ship Hong Kong Express,
mostly side to side.
Pictures show very shallow depth of penetration.
Twin screw might have helped.
