Collision with vessel Cistude VESSEL: Bow Eagle TYPE: Tanker GRT: 15,829 BUILT: 1984 VOYAGE: Brazil / Rotterdam CARGO: Ethly Acetate and Cyclohexane COMMENT: After initial denials, crew admitted colliding with fishing trawler, Cistude in the English Channel on Sunday, 27th August. The Cistude sunk immediately with the loss of 4 members of its crew. Reports indicated the Bow Eagle was holed on its port side and has lost approx. 200 tonnes of cargo. It is also suggested that there may be a further hole towards the vessel's stern. This serious incident is being investigated by the French authorities.

A despicable incident. Tanker knew they had hit Cistude, but took off anyway. No cause info yet. Pictures show Bow Eagle coming in, way down by the bow. Scrapes very near the bow. Indicates Eagle was the hitter, but at this point we really don't know.
