Exactly in August last year, the MT Golden Gate, a single hull tanker chartered by PNSC for transportation of crude oil for the Pak_Arab Refinery, had, due to a mechanical breakdown, struck submerged wreck of a fishing trawler in the harbor, and spilt 1300 tons of crude oil into the harbour.

The Golden Gate is a Polembros ship. In fact she is the notorious Neptune Dorado on which the USCG discovered some 30 deficiencies in 2000 including 500 tons of cargo in ballast tanks. Abv news item came from a filing against KPT, Polembros, etc. after Tasman Spirit so spill size may be high. Also may be hard to blame hitting a submerged wreck on mechanical failure. Other Pakistani sources claim 3000 tons but, if the spill were anywhere near this big, it should have got a lot more publicity the first time around.
