At about 0835hrs this morning, an India-registered oil tanker,
Lance Naik Karam Singh PVC (37,855 gross tons),
collided with a Panama-registered bulk carrier, Sea Epoch (37,711 gross tons)
about 6km south of Tanah Merah Ferry Terminal (Lat 01° 15’.62N Long 103° 58’.72E),
within Singapore’s waters.
The Lance Naik sustained some damage to its No.7 starboard (right) tank,
resulting in about 19 tonnes of light crude oil being spilled.
The Sea Epoch sustained minor damage to its bow (front).
There was no report of any injury and
both vessels are in stable condition.
The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore (MPA) deployed 8 anti-pollution craft
to clean up the minor oil spill.
A helicopter recce conducted at about 1315hrs indicated
that all of the spilled oil has been cleaned up.
None of the spilled oil has hit any of the islands or mainland Singapore.
There has also been no report of any further oil leaks.
