Bear G, loaded with 71,400 tons of gasoline, was denied access to New York harbor. Master had reported that gasoline was leaking from one tank into double bottom. However, USCG found gasoline in another ballast tank, and gasoline vapors at other end of ship. Source is Commander John Cameron. Ship diverted to Point Tupper for repairs.
