At about 0030 hours today, there was a collision between a Panamian bult carrier Martime Fidelity (GT 14,921) and Liberian VLCC New Venture (GT 156,307) at lat 01.32.1N long 104.35.1E about 30 km NE of Horsburgh Lighthouse.

The MF carrying a full load of fertilizer was eastbound for Viet Nam and the New Venture, empty of cargo, was westbound for Singapore.

The Master of the MF reported that his vessel was holed at the portside and taking in water. The Master of the NV reported that his vessel had sustained a small hole on the bulbous bow, and was not in any danger of sinking.

At 0338, the Master of the MF reported that his vessel was still taking in water and was in danger of sinking. He decided to abandon ship. All 28 officers and crew members from the MF were rescued by the RSN ship and brought back to Singapore. No injury to any of the crew members wase reported.

At about 0740 the salvors at scene reported that MF was still taking in water and sinking.

It is pretty clear New Venture was the hitter, Maritime Fidelity was the hittee. Maritime Fidelity is now a dive site.

Need more data. We cant even say if this was a head on meeting.
