Use of this tool produced one of my earliest and biggest vetting “wins”.
In May 1996 I failed the 21-year-old, 261,729 dwt “World Eminence”
because of clustering of SIRE VIQ observations in several areas of
the ship’s piping, including the engine room, fire lines, and cargo piping.
An oil major took the ship for the next voyage
and the engine-room flooded
after completing loading at Forcados Terminal, Warri on Jun 2 1996.
Pumping out of the engine-room was successful.
Damage, due to water ingress, is unknown.
The vessel anchored off Forcados
before being towed by tug/supply vessel Lowland Raider
to Abidjan Jun 16 for repairs.
The vessel was later converted at Jurong Shipyard
to FSO P-38 for Petrobras Marlim Sul oil field.
