The transfer of 348000 tons of crude oil
from the disabled supertanker Kraka to the Liberian tanker Marine Pacific
in False Bay was successfully completed on Wednesday.
DOT spokesman Capt Bill Dernier said the Kraka
would remain in False Bay until March 27
when it would be towed to Dubai for repairs.
The Krak was taken in tow off Cape Agulhas
after its propulsion system broke down.
It anchored in False Bay on March 10.
Pentow Marine's 20 main tanker team
maintained a close watch on the oil transfer.
