At approximately 0530 on May 19, 1993, No 6 fuel oil was spilled into the St Johns River during transfer operations at the Steuart Petroleum facility from the T/V Prime Trader, a 19,487 ton maltese vessel.

A misaligned valve onboard the Prime Trader caused this spill by overfilling one of the ship's holding tanks that subsequently overflowed onto the dock and into the water.
