Another loaded VLCC structural failure blamed on rogue waves
off South Africa.
Ship was en route from Juaymah to Brazil.
Pictures show the bow above the top of the forepeak tank
is fine, but below that the steel is just gone.
If the bow had been overstressed by a rogue wave,
the damage would have looked quite quite different.
The damage stops cleanly at the aft forepeak tank bulkhead.
This was pretty clearly a corrosion problem in the forepeak tank.
