This is the official Australian investigation. It concludes the ship was legally loaded, but in a nearly alternative hold fashion, with high shear but legal shear stress iwo Frame 58 just forward of the engine room.

The ship's last report, 5 days after leaving Dampier for Ijmuiden, said they had slowed to 6 knots because of bad weather. The Australians calculate that the maximum winds would have been Force 9 or 10.
