Ship was loaded with No 6, draft was 35.5 ft, channel was 37 ft. They were maneuvering into the Coastal terminal, Kill van Kull. Apparently they got a little outside the channel, and grounded at 0515. Hit a rock, Holed 4 stbd, 30 long 16 inch wide gash. USCG says 7000 bbl spill. Tide was flooding. Ship floated off at 0615. CG later installed some range lights to better mark edge of channel.
