On June 23, 1987, following a damage to its helm, the Japanese Tanker Fuyoh Maru, carrying 10,000 tons of kerosene, ran into the Greek tanker Vitoria coming from Rouen. The lightened but still oil vapor filled tanker exploded, and sank in the Seine about 15 km upstream from the Tancarville bridge.

Need to know more about "damage to its helm". Shipspotting has a picture of Fuyoh maru moored to a river bank date 1987-06-23. The damage to the bow is very minor. The oil in the photo of the sunken Vitoria appears to be bunkers. Some sources incorrectly put this spill at 10,000 tons.
