The fourth and most sever attack in only 16 months occurred on Apil 5, 1987, when the Polikon was on a ballast shuttle passage from Larak to Kharg. Iraqi jets struck her whenSE of Kharg in lat 28.22N, long 50.56E at 06.43 hours GMT. The resultant serious fire gutted her engine room and accommodation after the Exocet missile pierced a bulkhead and bunker tanks, but there were no crew casualties.
