The 237,085 dwt Greek steam tanker Tactic,
from Kharg Island, loaded with 200,000 tons of crude,
when she was struck by am air-launched Iraqi Exocet
in lat 27.38N, long 51.18E on January 28, 1987.
The missile penetrated the inert gas room,
causing a major fire in the engine room and accommodations
but no casualties to the 25 man crew,
who safely abandoned the burning ship.
Three tugs fought the fire,
after which the Tactic was taken in tow to Fujairah.
CTL and scrapped.
