Fixed wing, Exocet. Hit by two Exocets 70 mi SE of Kharg. One failed to detonate, but the other inflicted such damage to the steering equipment that she was declared a CTL.

The 227,492 dwt Cyprus steam tanker Angel was the subject of three Iraqi Exocet attacks within a 6 week period in Oct/Nov 1986.

The second attack took place while the Angel was fully loaded from Kharg to Larak on November 9, 1986. The Exocet struck her when south of Kharg Island in lat 28.12N, long 51.03E, but it lodged in her side without exploding. The Angel was then attacked again later the same day, sustaining rudder and engine damage when this missile exploded.

Towed to Iraq, cargo discharged, CTL. Scrapped.
