Exoceted Hit on 1986-01-01, loaded, but missile failed to explode.

Attack No 2 came on March 20, when once again, she was headed for Sirri Island fully loaded with crude oil from Kahrg Island. Damage was again described to be slight as the Exocet, which entered No 1 port tank, also failed to explode.

It was attack No 3 that sent her to the breakers yard. On this occaision, she was alos on the Kharg-Sirri run, fully loaded with crude oil, when she became the target of yet another Iraqi missile strike on May 6, 1986, some 40 mi fromKharg Is in lat 28.23N, 50.52E, but there were no injuries to any of her 37 man crew despite a fire breaking out on board. After being towed to Sirri, declared a CTL, and towed to Dubai.

Ironically, after serving on the Iranian shuttle for so many months, it was the Iranians who were repsonsible for attack No 4. The Superior was anchored about 9.5 miles off Dubai when she was attacked by an Iranian warplane on June 28, 1986. The missile struck he funnel, resulting in three crewmen being injured.

Exocet, fixed wing. Says Missile failed to explode. but this is probably a carry-over from earlier attacks. However, It is possible fo a missile to fail to explode but still start a fire from her propellant. And Navios talking about the 4th attack says another Phantom attacked and slightly damaged [with Maverik] the nearby Superior which was awaiting the removal of an Exocet warhead.

This should be four separate attacks.

Maybe the ship had some kind of counter-measure?

Obviously, Hooke and Navios have two different stories. The problem with the Navios version is that, if the third Exocet failed to explode and the ship was slightly damaged, why was she scrapped? Going with the Hooke version for now.
