The Maltese motor tanker Koncar.
was proceeding southward in a fully loaded condition
with 60,000 tons of Iranian crude oil
when she was struck by an Iraqi Exocet missile
in the forepeak in lat 28.22.36N, long 50.57.00E on November 16, 1985.
The crew, except for Master and RO, abandoned ship in lifeboats
due to a fire breaking out,
but they later reboarded the vessel when the fire had been extinguished.
The Koincar then proceeded to Sirri to discharge
before undergoing repairs at Jebel Ali in November.
