While en route from Ulsan to Kharg in ballast, the 269,709 dwt Greek steam tanker Fairship L was struck by an Exocet missile fired by an Iraqi warplane when south of Kharg Island inlat 28.24N, long 50.26E at 11 am on February 4, 1985. Howeer, none of her 26 Greek and Pakistani crew was injured when the missile hit and badly damaged the engine room.
