Om 24 June, the Iraqi Air Force resumed its campaign against Kharg Island and alos wreck teh Greek ULCC Alexander the Great as she loaded at Kharg Islands Sea Island Terminal. The island failities wre seriously damaged and the Sea Island jetty, which could take tankers of 500,000 tons, was temporarily closed.

While lying at Kharg Island's NW jetty on June 24, 1984, fully loaded with a caro og 300,000 tons of crude oil, 'the 325,645 dwt Greek stem tanker Alexander the Great was strucj by an Exocet missile fired by an Iraqi warplane at 5:40 AM, local time. No 5 port wing tank immediatelyu caught fire, but none of her 25 man crew were injured. Several thousand tons of oil were reported to have been lost due to the 3m holes in her side. CTL
