The Russian motor tanker Lugansk was one of 12 merchant and fishing vessels reported to have been damaged after having struck mines planted by Nicaraguan rebels during February and March of 1984.

The Lugansk was on a voyage from Odessa to Puerto Sandino, carrying 250,000 bbls of Soviet crude oil, when she struck a mine while entering the harbour of Puerto Sandino on the Pacific coast of Nicaragua on March 20, 1984. Five of her crew were injured. Even tho badly damaged, no oil leaked from the tanker, which managed to berth safely to discharge her cargo. The blast not only caused damage to the hull but also severely distorted her internally. CTL, scrapped Taiwan.
