On November 25, 1983, while outward bound for Batangas from Qingdao, China, loaded with crude oil, the Panamanian motor tanker Feoso Ambassador ran aground on Zhongsha Reef off the port of Qingdao. All her tanks were reported to have been damaged, with many open to the sea. However, with some 3,000 tonnes of oil lost, and after another 3,000 tonnes had been offloaded, she was refloated on November 30, then towed back into Qingdao Harbour, where her remaining cargo of approximately 20,000 tonnes was transferred to another tanker. Declared a CTL, she was sold to shipbreakers for demolition.
