While anchored in ballast condition off Fujairah
in lat 25.18N, long 56.26E on August 20, 1982,
an explosion and fire ripped through the engine room
of the 89,194 dwt Liberan motor tanker Corinthian
while repairs were being carried out in the engine room.
There were no deaths, all the crew being safely rescued
by two lifeboats from tankers anchored nearby,
before the blaze spread to and gutted the accommodation.
