The 39 year old American steam tanker Point Milton,
which sailed from New York on January 12, 1982,
bound for Portland, Oregon in ballast,
had a breakdown of her main propulsion machinery
the following day when in lat 38.51N, long 72.58W.
She was towed back to New York on January 14
and an inspection revealed that extensive damage
had been sustained.
Declared a CTL she was scrapped at New York.
