The greek motor tanker Yannis K was on a ballast passage from Rotterdam to Boston, when a fire broke out in her engine room, and then spread to the accommodation while off Yarmouth Nova Scotis in lat 42.24N, long 65.55W on August 27, 1981. 33 of the 41 crew members abandoned ship, but the Master and 7 others stayed on board to fight the blaze while the vessel was being towed to New York. CTL and scrapped.
