On June 27, 1981, while at the offshore Shoap Ali oilfield, Sinai, about 100 mi south of Suez, loading crude oil, the Greek motor tanker Neil Armstrong sustained extensive damage when a fire broke out in her accommodation. There were no crew casualties.

Towed to Piraeus, CTL, laid up, towed to Turkey, 1984, and scrapped.
