All 37 crewmen of the Greek motor bulk carrier Theomitor
were safely rescued when their vessel sank
in near gale force winds and heavy seas in mid-North Atlantic
east of Newfoundland in lat 47.27N, long 38.43W on August 14, 1980
after taking in water through a cracked hull.
The Theomitor was on a loaded voyage from Lulea, Sweden
to Philadelphia with 40,000 tons of iron ore.
