The Panamaian motor tanker Caribbean Sea was on a voyage
from Bajo Grande to Tacoma loaded with 28,000 tons
of Venezuelan crude oil,
when she sank south of El Salvador in lat 11.34N, long 89.51W
on May 27, 1977, after her engine room rapidly flooded.
Her 35 officers and crew were all safely rescued
by the Norwegian motor vessel Star Taro.
