All 35 members of the crew of the Liberian bulk carrier
Sacramento Venture were safely rescued
before the vessel sank in heavy seas
in the North Pacific
about 930 miles from Cape Nojima
in lat 35.35N, long 156.54E on December 14, 1974.
The Sacramento Venture, which was on a voyage
from San Francisco to Japan with a cargo of logs,
had previously experienced engine trouble
and flooding of holds Nos 1 and 2.
