The Greek motor tanker Eleftheria was en route
from Constantza to Chittagong with a cargo of lubricating oil,
when she was abandoned by her crew
due to an uncontrollable fire breaking out
off the coast of Sierra Leone in lat 06.00N, long 16.00W
on September 25, 1974.
Six of her crew died.
The blazing Eleftheria drifted until being taken in tow
by the Polish factory ship Saturn,
but she sank on September 26.
