The Greek motor tanker Andron was on voyage from Mena al Ahmadi, Kuwait
to Venice loaded with crude oil
when she sank off the coast of SW Africa about 80 miles North of Luderitz
in lat 25.40S, 14.40E on May 8, 1968,
after her engine room flooded due to pipe fracture.
All 27 on board were rescued by nearby vessels.
A huge oil slick subsequently caused pollution problems
to the nearby coast.
