Ship was 81,566 dwt. Marine casualty Data Base says grounded Green Point refloated. Several sources credit this spill for the founding of the Cape Town helicopter services, saying she grounded while taking on supplies from a small boat. This would have brought her close to shore, but is still not the real cause.

OSIR is our only source for spill volume. May be high.
